About the Play

This play is set in Brisbane just weeks away from the November armistice of World War 1.

It is a family drama about Daisy, an impetuous 16 year old who wants more meaning in her young life.  Her father is away at the front and her mother, Bea, is battling to keep the family bakery business afloat, with the help of her husband's twin brother, Evan.  Evan is a great ally for Daisy who has a fractious relationship with her mother.

A young NZ soldier, Jack, invalided out of the war after losing an eye, has fallen for Daisy which is not easy for him as Bea is very protective.  Her other daughter, who doesn't feature in the play, is estranged from the family and lives in Sydney.

Director

Penel Keagan

I have been "around the traps" for more years than I care to count (40 I think!) and have acted and directed at Howick Little Theatre and here at the Dolphin.

I last appeared on stage at the Dolphin in the title role of Kimberley Akimbo, thus far, my favourite production.

How many more might there be though as I am 71!  Fingers crossed!  I have been passionate about performing since a very young age and performed whenever I could for my parents and their long-suffering friends!

Why not audition for this WONDERFUL play!

Dolphin theatre is a community theatre and is run entirely by volunteers.
All acting roles are unpaid.
