Carleen Craig
as Angelo
After spending quite a bit of time backstage this year, Carleen has finally made it back to the other side of the flats! This has been an exciting journey for her, as this is her first ever Shakespearian play. Carleen has most recently appeared in The Flint Street Nativity, Goodnight Mister Tom and Oliver Twist at Dolphin as well as The Bach and The Death of Me at Ellerslie Theatre.
Des Gotobed
as Dr Pinch, Duke’s attendant
Des first performed in New Zealand in a pantomime in 1962. Since then he has performed in over 100 productions and looks forward to adding to the list! Des has been “off the boards” for a while and is enjoying being back at Dolphin Theatre in The Comedy of Errors. Des was last seen at Dolphin in A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY.
Victoria Poole
as Second Merchant and Officer
This will be my first performance for Dolphin Theatre but not my first rodeo with Shakespeare. My love for acting started in 2004 with Shoreside Theatre when a good friend dragged me along to an audition for Shakespeare in the Park to get me out of my comfort zone and gain confidence. I love it so much that I continued until taking a break in 2013 to start the next adventure of motherhood, though I continued helping with Box Office, Stage Crew and Front-of-House at various theatres. The last time I was on stage was back in 2018 with Ellerslie Stable Theatre’s production of Roald Dahl’s “The Witches”.
Bess Brookes
as Dromio of Syracuse
A Comedy of Errors is Bess's first foray onto the stage at The Dolphin, but not her first time running around playing one of Shakespeare’s clowns. Her last few summers have been spent taking part in the Shakespeare in the Park festival and she has also been in several productions at Howick Little Theatre, most recently The Viewing Room where the set consisted of one single coffin, which was indeed occupied.
An avid theatre fan, most weekends Bess can be found ushering audiences to their seats at one of the fantastic theatres across Tāmaki Makaurau. Bess would like to thank everyone at The Dolphin for making this production a really fun experience. In real life Bess teaches migrants to NZ the English they need to live great Kiwi lives.
Abigail Pulman
as Luciana
Abigail is excited to be playing Luciana in this production of the Comedy of Errors. She graduated from the acting programme at South Seas in 2019 and has since participated in productions like The Wall by Babel Theatre and various short films. She took a break from acting to get married and start a family but is excited to jump back into theatre again. In her spare time she enjoys singing and reading.
David Charteris
as Duke Solinus
A Theatre Practicioner for 52 years , David has experiencing bad stage withdrawals over the last two years [ like so many people ] and is very pleased to finally be back on the boards.
Lauren Wilson
as Dromio of Ephesus
Lauren Wilson is excited to be returning to the Dolphin Theatre to perform as Dromio in Comedy of Errors. Her most recent performances include Annabelle in Bridal Shop Confessions, Thurio in The Two Gentlemen of Verona (Shoreside Theatre), Second CountryFolk in The Two Noble Kinsmen (The Show Must Go Online), and multiple voice roles for SkyBearGames, as well as various productions around Tāmaki Makaurau. She is excited to be working with the fantastic cast of Comedy of Errors and bringing the chaotic and mistreated Dromio of Ephesus with the fantastic wahine Bess as her twin.
Kamal Bansal
as Officer and Servant
Kamal is primarily a Story Teller and he finds his happiness in executing and experimenting it through different mediums such as Acting, Singing, Writing, Directing, Audio narrations, voice overs and sketching. Observing people and admiring human behaviour is very natural to him. After doing few plays in India and few short films for YouTube, this is his debut with DOLPHIN THEATRE in NZ as an Actor in his first Stage Production in NZ.
Kamal is also associated with Indian-Bengali community called NANDAN in Auckland-NZ in the cultural events and Annual Bangla Play.
He was recently given the title of Most Dedicated Actor by Sally Spencer-Harris at STUDIO 111 in NZ on completion of Level 1 in Screen Acting.
He has worked very hard for 20 years to come out of the corporate grind and be able to live his passion.
His strongest belief-Execution is the key!!
James Turner
as Antipholus of Syracuse
James is a newcomer to Dolphin Theatre, with The Comedy of Errors being his second play with them. Audience will remember James from his turn in THE CHRISTMAS CAROL (Dolphin 2022). He is excited to perform in a Shakespeare play, having enjoyed studying them from a young age and is grateful to be working with such a generous and faithful cast and crew.
Paul Greenfield
as Antipholus of Ephesus
Paul has tackled Shakespeare in the past, playing characters in Julius Caesar, Othello, Hamlet, and Twelfth Night. He loves the language and the energy of "Heightened Reality" inherent in the plays. When he heard that Dolphin Theatre was planning to stage Comedy of Errors, he jumped at the opportunity. "Antipholus has his comfortable life turned on its head in the course of one very bad day. Trouble is, his descent into madness is caused by thinking that all those around him have gone insane!" Paul's more recent performances include Fire on the River, Messiah on the Frigidaire, Deadman's Cellphone, Things I Know to be True, and, in 2021, Death and Taxes at the Dolphin.
Pam Brown
as Aemilia and First Merchant
The last full play I did at Dolphin was Last Legs playing Edna, which was in Feb/March 2020 getting in just before the Covid lockdown. It seems so extraordinary now thinking about what has happened since then. Happily, I am back with Shakespeare, and so glad that I did not leave him behind in the UK. So, thank you Dolphin, the director, cast and crew for making this possible.
Richard Sandford
as Aegean and Balthazar
Richard has been performing over the last 20 years. From such notable roles as the Mikado in The Mikado and Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof, he has never come across a role like this before.
While he finds support and inspiration from his wife, family, friends, the cast, Lisa and Annie his main inspiration has come from his brothers Brett and Nick. Specially Nick, as just like Egeon in The Comedy of Errors, Nick is the father of 3 sons. Two of whom are identical twin boys. There is nothing his brothers wouldn't do for their kids and family like Egeon and it is to his brothers he dedicates his performances - but he hopes to you the audience enjoy the show.
Rochelle Cowie
as Courtesan and Duke’s Attendant
Rochelle is a familiar face at Dolphin. Her previous shows over the last few years include AT THE SIGN OF THE CRIPPLED HARLEQUIN, FLINT STREET NATIVITY and HOT WATER. Rochelle is thrilled to be back on stage after the lengthy lockdowns and is enjoying working with the cast and crew of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS.
ED Stewart
ED is a newcomer to Dolphin - welcome ED! ED’s past experience includes The Multiversity at The Herald Theatre. ED is having a fabulous time working with the cast and crew of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS.
