Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense

Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense

By the Goodale brothers
Based on the works of P G Wodehouse
Directed by Syd Mannion

Join two of the 20th century’s most loved characters – the effervescent, but intellectually challenged, young aristocrat Bertie Wooster and his unflappable valet Jeeves – for an evening of genial jollity.

When a delightful country weekend takes a turn for the worse, Wooster becomes matchmaker to rescue the engagement of his host’s drippy daughter Madeline to his newt-fancying friend Gussie. If Bertie, assisted by the ever-inventive Jeeves, can’t pull off the wedding of the season he’ll be forced

to abandon cherished bachelorhood and marry the ghastly girl himself!

Syd Mannion

Syd Mannion

Director

For many years Syd has been a regular actor, designer and director at the Dolphin Theatre, where he last directed Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. Working with many Auckland theatres, Syd has also proudly directed Shadowlands, Terra Nova, The Woman in Black, Improbable Fiction, The God of Carnage and the New Zealand premiere of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Syd is a long-time fan of PG Wodehouse, and this stage adaptation based on The Code of the Woosters took the West End by storm and is currently touring the UK.

Julian Toy-Cronin

Julian Toy-Cronin

as Jeeves

Julian is back for more at the Dolphin. Having appeared in Crimes of the Heart earlier this year, he couldn’t let the chance to be part of Jeeves and Wooster pass by. Julian is loving the chance to stretch his comic muscles having never attempted a full-length comedy before, and all the very serious challenges it provides. In his spare time, Julian works for the University of Auckland and is a doting father to his two performers in training.

Henry Warner

Henry Warner

as Bertie Wooster

Henry's debut at the Dolphin Theatre was in 2014 in The Fox on the Fairway where he won Best Newcomer Award. Henry has also appeared in many musicals including Guys and Dolls, The Wedding Singer, Oliver and Jesus Christ Superstar. Other notable credits include Sitting Pretty and Family 2.0, Blood Brothers, Romeo and Juliet, The Road and Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales. Henry is honoured to be performing the role of Bertie Wooster in one of his favourite British comedy masterpieces.

Ian Wilshin

Ian Wilshin

as Seppings

Ian arrived in NZ from the UK in 2010 and has previously been in many productions in the South Island appearing in shows with Marlborough Repertory Theatre and Blenheim Musical Theatre. Although Ian does enjoy a dramatic role, he has been told that he does have a face for comedy. He's still thinking about that one. Ian feels he is very fortunate to have landed his first acting role in Auckland with the Dolphin, and in such a hilarious show.
