This is the third play Rae has directed for Dolphin Theatre and she always enjoys the challenge of bringing a script from the page to the stage.  This play by Ron Aldridge is the second by this playwright that Rae has worked on and she is always interested in the way he combines both pathos and humour. This production has a wonderful mixture of mature and younger actors and the energy that comes from this combination presents a sparkling entertainment.  There has been huge enjoyment in the rehearsal process for all those involved in creating this play and Rae is sure that, like her, you will enjoy the evening’s drama.

The Frank Daniels Trio was once a successful singing and dancing variety group in the 1970s. Frank, his beautiful wife Sarah and the comic of the ensemble, Tony, were the perfect recipe for an evening’s entertainment.

Three decades later, when Sarah and Frank visit Tony at the nursing home, all the old emotional baggage comes to the fore, and there are flashbacks to the ‘good old days’ when we see them as their younger selves performing the song-and-dance routines.

as Sarah Daniels

Bronwen has been at the Dolphin for decades (so many she's lost count). That's Love is her 24th season on stage here, the last being the ACTT award winning Memory of Water (2013), also directed by Rae McGregor. Like Roger Hall's A Shortcut to Happiness (Howick Little Theatre 2013), Ron Aldridge's That's Love combines Bronwen's hobbies of dancing (mostly International Folk) and live theatre. She is delighted to be in a play that features romance for the more mature "It's never too late" folks. Bronwen is so proud to be in this production with a well-crafted script and talented artists and technicians. (Old) Sarah thanks all the cast and crew.

as Tony Scott

Hamish is delighted to be making his first appearance at Dolphin in That’s Love. Hamish’s recent Auckland roles include Ellerslie Theatrical Society’s productions of The Graduate and Things My Mother Taught Me and Howick Little Theatre’s Central Otago Man.  Hamish also performed in Silo Theatre’s production of The Events in 2015, and Harlequin Musical Theatre’s Guys and Dolls in 2014.  In addition to his passion for stage acting, Hamish has also performed in several classical and modern choirs in Auckland in recent years.

as Frank Daniels

Sean has been involved in community theatre since high school and has performed in over 35 plays. These have been mostly comedies and farces and so he is pleased to be involved in a romantic comedy that has some strong dramatic tones. It is his first show with Dolphin Theatre – a fact he is very excited about!  His most recent productions include Allo Allo (Peninsula Players), Vicar of Dibley (Phoenix Theatre), A Shortcut to Happiness (Titirangi Theatre), Calendar Girls (Playhouse Theatre) and earlier this year he directed and starred in Move Over Mrs Markham (Phoenix Theatre). 

as Young Sarah

Mazarine is 19 years old and is currently working towards her ATCL in Musical theatre. She is having a busy year having played ‘Susan Harper’ in ATC's Adventures of Tom Sawyer, ‘Amanda’ in HLT Central Otago Man and ‘Greensleeves’ in Fire On The River - the Musical. She has been dancing, singing and acting for many years and is looking forward to taking on a more mature role than she is used to. She has enjoyed working with such a friendly and talented cast and crew.

as Young Tony

Andrew has been involved in a number of plays since moving to Auckland in 2012.  Formally a graduate of the Actors’ Program Andrew has been involved in a number of plays such as: Camino Real at the Basement, Digital Winds and Tautai of Digital Winds at the Mangere Arts Centre, and most recently playing ‘Firpo' in The End of The Golden Weather at the Stables Theatre in Ellerslie.  Once again Andrew finds himself excited to be a part of another show and looks forward to bringing this next character to life.

as Young Frank

Hot off his last production, Joshua is ecstatic to be joining Dolphin this year for the first time, having recently been at Stables Theatre in Ellerslie and Howick Little Theatre, in The Pin Up Boys and Mary's Wedding respectively. In his spare time he watches plenty of movies which he can recite from memory, practices the sport of Fencing, and paints plastic miniatures. "I have thoroughly enjoyed working with this lovely cast and crew, and hope you enjoy the show, with its wit, charm and heart".
