Annie Whittaker

Annie is a long-time (life) member of Dolphin and has acted, directed, stage-managed, teched, rigged and done costumes and props – pretty much everything you can do in a theatre! She has previously directed A Few Good Men and The God of Carnage for Dolphin, This is How it Goes for Mairangi, The Kings of the Gym for Titirangi and Sure Thing for Ellerslie. She is enjoying being back in the director’s chair after an absence looking after her parents before they passed away.

Annie is enjoying working with this really talented cast and her wonderful crew. “I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Thanks so much to Dolphin for giving us the opportunity to make the audience laugh – one of our all-time favourite things!”

John Edwards

as Dr Watson

In previous years, John has appeared in several productions with Dolphin, including A Few Good Men, A Doll’s House and Ladies Down Under. He has performed in several playhouses in Auckland and Sydney, acting in Così and Ladies Night to name a couple. Recent audiences will remember John in our One-Act Play Festival playing a beleaguered writer in the hilarious play Hidden In This Picture. After being thoroughly bested by cows, he now takes on another foe of a beastly nature.

David Burchall

as Sherlock Holmes

David was last seen at Dolphin in One Man, Two Guvnors, and as Bill Sikes, a malicious criminal, a vicious robber and a murderer, in an award- winning performance in Oliver Twist (both in 2016). He is delighted to be back, especially in such an iconic (and ironic) role as the great detective. Talk about two extremes! Once more he wants to thank his ever-patient wife Jody as she again becomes a theatre widow.

Blair Purkiss

as Actor 1: Barrymore / Dr Mortimer / Man with black beard / Lucy / Milker / Castilian Desk Clerk / Stapleton/ Victor / Dr McCann / Country Farmer / Sir John Falsta

Blair trained at Hagley Theatre Company, achieving a Diploma of Performing Arts in 2007. His most recent performances include The Witches andMaskerade, but he was last at the Dolphin in A Few Good Men (2011). He will now be portraying 11 di erent characters, from softly spoken Dr Mortimer to loud, brash Stapleton. Altogether, 336 costume changes during the season!

Zane Fleming

as Actor 2: Sir Charles / Sir Hugo / Sir Henry / Wilson / Lastrade / Bradley

Zane is a recognisable face at the Dolphin, mostly due to his award- winning performances in the roles of Francis in One Man, Two Guvnorsand Babby Bobby Bennett in The Cripple of Inishmaan (2017). He has been acting since he was six, in both television, lm and theatre. He recently tried his hand at directing with the musical 21 Chump Street for the Dolphin’s 2018 One-Act Play Festival.

Rebecca Stubbing

as Actor 3: Mrs Hudson / Maiden / Cartwright / German maid / Mrs Clayton / Mrs Barrymore / Miss Stapleton / Nurse Malloy / Nurse MacKeeble / Laura Lyons

Rebecca is coming to you today fresh from her highly acclaimed appearance as “Old Woman” in her own short lm for uni and a one- show Improv. tour to Whangarei where she won a two-dollar-shop silver medal. Being a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and of ridiculous things, Rebecca is super excited about Baskerville. She has loved working with everyone to put this bad boy together.
